Family-friendly beaches on the Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is one of the safest and most beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean for family travel. Along its coastline, there are many quiet, accessible beaches with services designed for families with children. In addition, many of them offer water sports that little ones will love.
From Hotel NM Suites, we recommend some of the best beaches and coves on the Costa Brava, starting with the most practical ones closest to our hotel in Platja d’Aro. Staying with us means having the sea just a one-minute walk away, which is essential when travelling with children.
Platja Gran is wide, with fine sand and all the necessary services (lifeguards, showers and rentals), making it ideal for families. Very nearby, you will also find Sant Antoni de Calonge, with quiet, well-equipped beaches, perfect for a relaxed day with children without any hassle.
The best beaches to visit with children on the Costa Brava
Playa de Tamariu (Palafrugell)
A family beach in an old fishing village with picturesque white houses. Perfect for those who love walking, as it can be reached by the camí de ronda coastal path.
Playa de Llafranc
Another idyllic spot to spend the day with your loved ones. The beach is located in a bay at the foot of the Sant Sebastià mountain and right by the town of Llafranc, with a seafront promenadebustling with bars, restaurants and shops.
Cala d’Aiguablava (Begur)
This is one of the most popular spots with tourists on the Costa Brava. Its calm, shallow waters are perfect for small children to play. It is surrounded by nature, but still has all the services you need: lifeguards, a beach bar, restaurants, water sports equipment rental, and free parking. And if that was not enough, to the right of the beach there is a track leading up to a spot with the most spectacular views.
Platja Gran de l’Estartit – Illes Medes (Estartit)
A long beach where you are sure to find a spot that is not overcrowded, even in high season. The beach has lovely views of the popular Illes Medes islands. Take goggles and a snorkel to enjoy the wealth of marine flora and fauna. Parking is free and there are plenty of services, including a wide range of water sports options.
